A global scope: The New Nordic Group in the tropical zone

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the New Nordic Group. Going from launching a one apartment building, we are now present with projects or offices on a total of four continents across 37 destinations. I am very proud to be approaching the 10 year mark knowing we have achieved the first step in the vision we set out all these years ago.
When I started the New Nordic Group venture officially back in 2009 I always had a vision to enable people from all over the world to easily find good investments and travel experiences in destinations where you find a warm summer climate all year round. Having endured too many cold winters in Norway it seemed natural to start in a place with a tropical and stable climate throughout the year, and Thailand was a natural starting point. The vision has, however, been to go beyond Thailand. First to South Eastern Asia, and later to other tropical regions such as Central Africa and Latin America. Today, 10 years later, we are in a total of four continents and 37 destinations.
Starting a new venture, I believe the most important thing you can have is a vision, a concept and the determination to reach the goals that the team have set for themselves. It is therefore a pleasure to be going into the 10 year knowing that the Group today is where we want to be. I am also extremly proud of the team we have been able to develop along the way, as I early learned that the organization needs key people that are more experienced and knowledgeable than myself in their fields of work to run our different business units and reach the goals we have set for ourselves.
When we start a new venture I always like to be hands-on having daily contact with our project teams, sketching out the ideas and the plan together. Later on, however, it is also important to let the Country teams and Business Unit teams take ownership of their projects and to make the decisions they find best for their unit, as well as the shared vision of the Group. It is fantastic to see how well our Asia team is running our Asian businesses, and also to work more closely with our Africa and Latin America team to build up our projects and brands here in the same way we have done in Asia for the past 10 years.
