Africa is now
Sep 26, 2018
Following New Nordic Hong Kong's decision to venture into Africa, I have had the pleasure of visiting different countries and regions on the continent more and more - as well as working closely with our own and third party experts within a range of different industries.
Most that have traveled in Africa knows that the continent has so much to offer if we go beyond the often underserved negative media representation to see their beautiful nature, friendly people and diverse culture. This is, however, only the beginning, and Africa as a continent is also a place that makes sense for investors who believe in the future. Here are some of the trends on the continent right now:
- Africa has an ever increasing population, which is set to double by 2020
- 20% of the African population is between the age of 15 and 24, a figure expected to rise to 321 million by 2030.
- Innovations like mobile network payments were pioneered in East Africa, opening the wired, global economy to the poor & rural people with no access to bank
- It is predicted that 13 of the 20 fastest growing global economies over the next five years will be in Africa
I look forward to see the development of these amazing destinations, and to learn more and more about the continent as we work of our first focus areas: Uganda and Malawi.
